SPORTS EVENT MANAGEMENT INTERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Location of work to be based from Virgin Active Fulham/ Virgin Active Chiswick or/and David Lloyd Northwood.

Essential Training Date: Sunday 23rd of September 2018

£15 a day towards food & travel expenses

Potential for a full time role event hosting on weekends after internship and referee training (£50-£140 per day).

Are you a talented and ambitious person, keen to begin your career in the dynamic world of experiential sport events the UKs biggest tennis events company?

We are offering up to 5 spaces to take part in an 8-24 week voluntary internship. This is ideal for anyone who would like to gain valuable work experience alongside their studies, or to have a foot in the door within the sports and events management industry.

SKILL SETS

We offer an opportunity for interns to specialise in a given area and/or the opportunity to work in all different areas of the business. Areas and skill sets include Marketing, Finance &
Accountancy, Project Management, Human Resources, Sales, Operations & Logistics & Strategic Planning.

MY TENNIS EVENTS

o Since 2016 we have worked with major brands, governing bodies, marketing agencies and rights holders to maximize their assets at every event.
o We are experts in the world of tennis events and working with main health club players including David Lloyd, Virgin Active and Better Facilities.
o Our reputation is built on the understanding that the event ‘must happen without fail’. Our strategic planning allows for all eventualities and our team’s work ethic underpins everything we do as a business. We will get the job done - no matter
what.

WHAT IS INVOLVED
o The successful applicants will spend their weeks supporting the Management Team to design, build and deliver experiential sport activations.
o Should you be successful following the internship, you will be tasked with managing
your own events from the build stage through to live activity and then breakdown.
o You will be responsible for the logistics, installation, on-site management, client and
venue liaison and live event management of a differing range of events.
o Throughout the placement, you will receive training, support and exposure to different elements of the industry, and mentoring from highly experienced industry professionals.
o We will agree what the best position is within the agency in order to play to your strengths and allow you to thrive and progress.

NITTY GRITTY

o We offer part time & full time roles available
o Part time roles would be 2-3 days per week, averaging around 14-18 hours per week.
o Full time roles would be 4-5 days per week, averaging around 30 hours per week.
o The work undertaken is voluntary, although we have a £15 a day allowance per day to cater for travel and lunch. This will be bank transferred on Friday of that given work week.

REQUIREMENTS

o A pro-active, self-starter who is flexible and calm in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
o An understanding of the tennis world and tennis knowledge/ game is an advantage but not an essential
o Confident and challenging, always looking to do better
o Straight talking and honest - a person that considers and respects those around you
o The successful applicant will be working with our clients and their customers during the events so needs to be customer focused and be able to communicate at all levels.
o Self-motivated and committed to get the Job done to exact standards with occasional tight deadlines, and difficult conditions, often working on your own.
o You will be required to be physically fit as there will be elements of manual work and have good practical and interpersonal skills.
o Good Listening skills, to fully understand the requirements of each job, particularly when verbally briefed.
o Flexible attitude to work, the ability to adapt quickly to changing demands and situations
o Having worked in the sports and/or events industry or a customer facing environment is an advantage but is not essential.
o The ability to live and work away from home for extended periods, sometimes at weekends and at unsociable hours.
o We will provide the tools and training you need to fulfil the role.
