NHS Tayside
MSK Outpatient Departments and/or GP Practices
Angus, Dundee and Perth
First Contact Physiotherapists, Band 7
Salary Scale: £33,222 - £43,471 per annum pro rata
An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide first contact physiotherapy intervention in GP Practices and/or MSK OP departments based within the three Health and Social Care Partnerships (Angus, Dundee and Perth and Kinross) in Tayside.
You will act primarily as a first contact practitioner triaging, assessing and providing self-management advice to patients presenting to the service. You will also have a clinical caseload within your main Physiotherapy department. The Physiotherapy service also accepts referrals from Consultants, GPs, AHP services and NHS 24 Musculoskeletal advice and triage service.
You will have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of more junior staff, and students within the speciality. You will provide specialist resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical, Care and Professional Governance, Clinical Effectiveness, Quality Improvement (QI) and Research.
You should have demonstrable highly specialist clinical skills/knowledge, from postgraduate courses/in service, as evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio, with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards across trauma, orthopaedics and general musculoskeletal conditions.
Ability to administer corticosteroid injections and request imaging would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given. Non medical prescribing is desirable with full support given to complete the NMP module.
NHS Tayside is committed to supporting ongoing personal and professional development as essential to provide a quality service and we can support this through CPD workshops, appraisals, in-service training and involvement within the MSK Tayside Practice Development Network. This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills including MDT working, service development, QI and leadership experience
The Physiotherapy Departments are friendly, dynamic and sociable with strong links with Universities providing student placements primarily from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The Physiotherapy service in Tayside has recently won national awards across several specialties, and all staff are dedicated to deliver the best service possible through expanding skills and knowledge, streamlining service and providing the best in patient care.
