An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist (or Psychologist with equivalent training) to join the Gloucestershire and Herefordshire Pain Self-Management Team. The service delivers clinics in several venues in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. The team is co-located with the Gloucestershire Health Psychology Department which delivers a wide range of services within the Gloucestershire Hospitals Trust.
We are a multidisciplinary team working closely together to help people to understand and manage their chronic pain by developing self-management skills such as pacing, maintaining fitness, relaxation, and managing their medication skilfully. We use a strong psychological framework in order to help people gain the acceptance and confidence to make their lives as rewarding as they can be, with pain. We work using CBT, ACT and Mindfulness. The service is recognised nationally as innovative and dynamic and in Gloucestershire our CCG is very supportive of service development in chronic pain. We expect that the next few years will bring many new opportunities for staff within the service.
We are a hardworking, supportive and cheerful team with good admin support, with our main base in Gloucester. You would be working alongside two other psychologists. We are looking for someone who is a good team player, flexible, and keen to join a well established team to further develop their specialist knowledge and skills. Your day to day clinical work would include assessment, working with individuals and delivering various pain self-management programmes including group work. We are particularly keen to recruit someone with experience in ACT/Mindfulness approaches.
You are welcome to contact us in advance of applying. If you want to come and visit us informally to meet us then we would be delighted to arrange this with you.
