Commodities and Global Markets

Our Commodities and Global Markets (CGM) group specialises in providing clients with access to markets, financing, financial hedging, research and market analysis, and physical execution across energy; metals, mining and agriculture; fixed income and currencies; credit; futures and equity markets.

  • Central Risk

Our Central Risk team provides our businesses globally with pricing and risk management assistance, and an independent view on how risk is managed and represented in our trading systems.

We’re looking for a Graduate who enjoys problem solving and identifying process improvements to join our Central Risk team in London. You’ll work with businesses to identify and manage risk in systems and processes, design tactical and strategic solutions to support our culture of risk-based decision making and have the opportunity to evaluate the development of new products. You’ll also undertake thorough financial risk and P&L analysis for derivatives and structured products, and work on projects used by all of CGM’s trading businesses.


Our Technology teams work on delivering innovative technological solutions to provide fast and reliable systems to place trades, deliver value and position us to be competitive within the market. Our teams are responsible for driving simplification and consolidation of our technology architecture and efficiency of our key infrastructure platforms and own strategic initiatives such as cyber security, and public and private cloud programs.

  • Software Developers/ Front Office Support Engineers/ Business Analysts

You’ll work closely with senior IT and finance professionals, learning how technology is used to manage risk in a global financial institution. Key responsibilities of the role include implementing software design, testing and deployment best practices; identifying opportunities to improve technology infrastructure and executing the process of planning and communicating change. You will develop and code our applications and platforms, which will involve high technical analysis, problem solving skills and mathematical abilities.

  • Network Engineers

As a Graduate you will work in an agile environment, focusing on supporting releases of products and platforms. Your role will involve hands-on trouble shooting and incident management and you will run and maintain code bases, application health and automate testing capabilities. You will be part of a team which is responsible for network monitoring, troubleshooting and overseeing operational projects which will involve high technical analysis and problem-solving skills.

Investment Banking

As an Investment Banking Analyst in Macquarie Capital, you’ll be working in corporate advisory on behalf of our clients covering a range of industry sectors and also have exposure to Macquarie’s market leading principal investing capabilities. Our advisers are empowered to think innovatively to address individual client challenges and create opportunities, thinking beyond individual transactions to become a trusted adviser to our clients over the long haul. Our principal investing capabilities set us apart from other advisory firms and mean you’ll be involved in identifying opportunities to deploy our own capital alongside our clients in order to help make Macquarie Capital a market leading investor and trusted financial adviser to our clients over the long haul.

We are recruiting graduates in both divisions below and you can expect to be fully trained to conduct financial analysis from day one, as well as review due diligence materials to identify risks and business value drivers and preparing materials for external meetings and pitch books for winning new business. Asset Management

Our Asset Management business actively manages money for investors across multiple asset classes, including infrastructure, energy, real estate, agriculture and specialist investments. We’re a leading global investor with £271.3 billion in assets under management. We are looking for Graduates to join us in

  • Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investments Solutions (MIDIS)

Infrastructure assets are typically less risky and generate stable cash flow over long periods of time. Institutional Investors such as pension funds seek to match their long-dated liabilities by investing in infrastructure debt assets which generate long-dated stable returns. By joining the MIDIS business, you’ll assist in originating, structuring and executing transactions by helping infrastructure asset owners issue debt products and use institutional investor funds to invest in these products.

Your role will see you get involved in all aspects of investment analysis including building and reviewing sensitivities on financial models, reviewing due diligence on potential investments and assessing the appropriate debt level and debt structure for the potential acquisition. You’ll also have responsibility for aspects of portfolio management as well as producing investment papers and client requests

Risk Management

The Risk Management Group is an independent and centralised unit responsible for identifying, assessing and monitoring risk across Macquarie and underpins all our market activity. We are looking for Graduates to join us in both of the divisions below.

  • Market Risk

The Market Risk team sets and monitors limits for all trading and banking activities across Macquarie. It ensures all market risks are identified and approved on new trading products and businesses and reviews liquidity implications arising out of trading activities.

You’ll be immersed in the global financial markets; understanding market drivers and keeping abreast of news and trends. You’ll assess the risk and reward balance in new businesses and transactions and build relationships with traders to ensure they comply with market risk limits. Tasks will include but are not limited to daily calculation of Market Risk contingent loss exposures for reporting to front office and senior management as well as performing reviews of risk system infrastructure and pricing models to ensure that they are fit for purpose.

  • Internal Audit

Internal Audit provides independent assurance to senior management and the Board Audit Committee on the quality and effectiveness of Macquarie’s internal controls, risk management and governance systems and processes.

As a Graduate, you’ll gain exposure across our broad range of businesses, in a challenging role that will see you drive success through effective risk management. You’ll be involved in the planning, delivery and reporting of audits across the group’s businesses and support functions in EMEA. You will work collaboratively as a part of the audit assignment team to identify key controls, determine test strategies, assess controls and provide insights to areas of improvement through Audit Reports to Management.
