King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of London’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a unique profile of strong local services and tertiary specialties. We are seeking to employ a self-motivated, enthusiastic band 6 Dietitian to join our haemato-oncology team at Denmark Hill site.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Macmillan Dietitian in providing specialist nutrition support inventions (oral nutrition support/enteral/parental) to the patients suffering from haematological malignancies (e.g. lymphoma, leukaemia, and myeloma) and other red cell diseases (eg. sickle cell disease, aplastic anaemia).
Kings has the largest BMT programme in the UK and performs more than 160 transplants a year. Our case load mainly consists of patients admitted for bone marrow transplants or high dose chemotherapy and post-transplant patients admitted with complications as a result of their treatment (gut GVHD, CMV infections, sepsis).
In addition to the 4 haematology wards covered, we provide outpatient bleep cover, to post transplant clinics and attend patient information groups (pre transplant information, oncology and survivorship patient support groups).
Our dietetics department is focused on improving the nutritional care for inpatients, developing outcome measures for dietitians and also thinking about innovative ways of meeting the needs of our patients. We are also involved in audit, research and teaching of other healthcare professionals in line with our mission to provide excellence in clinical care, research and teaching within King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre.
We undertake student training for A, B and C placements and the post holder would be expected to play an active role.
