Learning Mentor – Redbridge

Are you a graduate looking to develop on any prior experience working with young people with additional needs?
Perhaps you’re a non-graduate with extensive experience working with either SEN or as a mentor for challenging youths and are looking for progression opportunities?
Here at EduStaff we support graduates to find long-term, full-time education-based roles in the more challenging areas of the curriculum for including Learning Support Assistants, SEN TA and Learning Mentors.
Location: Learning Mentor position available in Redbridge, East London
Duration: Long-term, full-time role commencing in September 2018
Pay: £65-75 a day (paid on a weekly basis)
Essential criteria: Must have a minimum 2:1 degree with experience supporting complex needs (voluntary or paid) or a non-graduate with extensive experience/training!
Desirable criteria: Previous work within a school or behavioural unit or training in either Makaton/PECS or TeamTeach (training can be provided)
What is a Learning Mentor?
As a Learning Mentor, you'll provide support to teachers and support staff, addressing the needs of learners who require help in overcoming barriers to learning. You will work closely with the inclusion leader and SEN department, to ensure learners who have specific difficulties are given priority to those who need the most help, especially those experiencing multiple disabilities.
Your role will be tailored around supporting a number of issues such as: punctuality, absence, challenging behaviour and abuse. Above this, this is an extremely rewarding role that allows you to improve the quality of development of some gifted children!
Learning Mentor specification:
The successful Learning Mentor will have a minimum of a 2:1 degree and an excellent track-record of supporting pupils on an ILP in any capacity is essential. Any enhanced training or knowledge of specific behavioural/language therapies will be extremely advantageous. You will receive training within this role but fundamental experience into this area of the curriculum is a must.
