As a forward thinking Trust, we are reviewing the way we deliver medicines optimisation in the clinical setting and have developed two new roles for advanced pharmacist practitioners in the Emergency Department. We constantly look at ways in which we can challenge the norms and do things differently. We know that patients’ needs can be met by using a variety of different skills and this is why we are introducing a new role in the ED.
If you are a registered pharmacist with clinical hospital experience and a PG diploma or equivalent, and want to lead and be the expert on medicines optimisation in the ED, then please read on. In this role, you will be ED based providing an enhanced pharmacist practitioner service to patients in ED and support the multi-disciplinary team with medicines related issues. If you are already an ACP or have clinically enhanced IP, that would be an advantage but we will support development of the right individual. It is an exciting opportunity to develop a new service and be a truly integrated part of the ward team.
You will also be a part of a pharmacy department which has recently been assessed within its education quality audit as having transformed the education and training which it provides as well as being able to receiving guidance and support from a Lead Education and Training pharmacist who provides ‘true educational leadership’. You will be supported by a growing clinical pharmacy team as we recognize the need for medicines expertise across the organization and with this being one of two posts for ED you will have peer support in the same specialty. You will have a clinical supervisor within the ED as well as a line manager in Pharmacy. Please do give us a ring or pop in for a visit to find out more and meet the team.
Weekend and bank holiday rota's are currently in place on a 1:10 basis and all staff have access to free park and ride.
Finally, you should be ready for a new challenge, show initiative in supporting service improvements, be a team player and have excellent problem solving skills.
