Who will I be working with?
Crowder Consulting is a consultant engineering and software development company that specialises in the fields of water supply, water distribution and sewer networks. Established in 1985, the business designs and provides intelligent, fully localised water management software that’s used across the UK and overseas. Crowder have an established client base in the UK and Ireland which includes Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, United Utilities, Northern Ireland Water, Bristol Water, Dee Valley Water, and Irish Water, to name a few.

What will this role of Graduate / Junior Java Developer entail?
Working alongside domain experts, product owners, testers and other developers, as a Graduate / Junior Java Developer you’ll receive training and mentoring to support the team in analysing solution requirements and play a key part in designing, developing and testing components, applications and APIs.
You’ll be involved in the end-to-end software development life cycle, and get to see the intelligent water management software through from start to finish. You’ll also be responsible for the writing and maintenance of documentation.
What will I need in order to be considered for this Graduate / Junior Java Developer role?
* Educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Physics
* Knowledge of developing software in object oriented (OO) language, e.g. Java, C#
* An understanding of object orientated design and design driven design (DDD)
* Enthusiasm and passion for innovating and creating new solutions
* Superb communication skills
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently
* Highly driven with a proactive approach to work
The following software is used, therefore knowledge of such would be highly advantageous;
* Java 8+, Oracle 11G / 12C, SQL / PL.SQL, HTML 5 / JavaScript / CSS, JSON / XML
* Hibernate, Spring, Spring Boot, Vaadin, Apache Tomcat, Nginx, Quartz
* Gradle, Eclipse, Jenkins, Docker, Nexus, Sonar, Surround SCM, Git, Jira, SQL Developer
* Agile (Scrum Hybrid)
What will I receive in return?
Salary: £21,000 to £25,000, level dependent on experience
Additional Benefits: Employer contributory pension scheme, annual leave entitlement that increases with length of service, and the option for flexible working days.
Contract type: Permanent
Hours of Work: Full time Monday to Friday, working 7.5 hours a day with flexible start times available between 8am and 10am, and finish times between 4:30pm and 6:30pm.
Location: Birkenhead (Merseyside). Easily accessible in a central location, with great transport links.
