In this role, you have the opportunity to

Contribute to the research and development activities at the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory in Philips Research North America to create innovative AI solutions to support knowledge discovery, decision-making and attainment of optimal patient outcomes across the care continuum.

You are responsible for

  • Development of novel algorithms and working prototypes/demos based on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning techniques to address tasks related (but not limited) to information extraction, text summarization, natural language generation, automated question answering, and reasoning using unstructured clinical documents, biomedical literature and social media data

You are a part of

It is located in Cambridge, MA overlooking the Charles River walking distance from our collaborators at MIT. To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
  • Ph.D. student in Computer Science or related fields with strong expertise in computational linguistics, natural language processing, and machine learning (especially, deep learning)
  • Proficiency in Python, Java or Lua etc. programming languages
  • Extensive experience with deep learning tools and frameworks (e.g. Keras, TensorFlow, Theano, Caffe, Torch, PyTorch etc.)
  • Experience with NLP-related tools (e.g. NLTK, UIMA, TextBlob etc.)
  • Experience in dealing with clinical text data and familiarity with standardized medical terminologies (e.g. SNOMED-CT, ICD-10 etc.) is a plus
  • Able to work within a team environment and should be self-motivated with the ability to plan and execute
  • Able to communicate in English effectively, both written and verbal
