GE Aviation Systems' Summer Internship Programme is a short term placement opportunity for people with passion for technology, dedication to technical excellence and feel a connection to GE's core values.
This Summer Internship is designed to give you experience of a live Avionics project, with responsibility for business-critical priorities, and also to create a pipeline of talented future candidates for our Edison Engineering Development Programme. Essential Responsibilities:
The Summer Internship provides experience of the engineering lifecycle within a safety critical environment. Exposing participants to a world leading global organization, participants have the opportunity to see first-hand how ideas come to life. Summer Interns benefit from GE’s global breadth by working alongside experienced project teams. The Summer internship is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself in an encouraging, harmonious environment, while gaining hands on experience of some of the most advanced engineering challenges in the world today.
The projects assigned will be in our Electrical Power Distribution, Avionics Interface & Controls and Flight Displays Product Groups, across our Electrical/Electronic, Electrical/Mechanical, Software or Systems Functional Teams.
The Key elements of a Summer Placement include:
- Placement on a live Engineering programme, which may involve Systems, Software or Hardware Engineering, within Avionics or Power Distribution engineering projects, motivated by real GE business priorities
Volunteering Opportunities: Summer Interns are strongly encouraged to lead the way in championing GE’s core values. You will be provided with opportunities to be part of our STEM-based Educational Programmes, where you can also develop relationships with the wider GE Community, such as the GE Women’s Network.

- Studying for a Bachelors or Masters Accredited Engineering Degree in one of the following subjects (or similar) or equivalent knowledge and experience: -
- Avionics, Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering
- Computer Systems Engineering, Robotics, Computer/Software Engineering
- An analytic, collaborative approach to problem solving
- Dedication to a career in technology and a real passion for engineering
- An understanding of our business and products
- An interest in joining our Edison Engineering Development Programme
- Commitment to Personal Development and Community Volunteering
Additional consideration will be given if you have:
- Previous GE Aviation Systems Internship or Work Experience
- Studying for a GE Partnership Degree Course
