Job Title: Graduate Internship – Sport and Health Development (Temp – 12 months)
Salary: Annual salary £14,856 to 15,294

What is the role?
South Ayrshire Council has an exciting Graduate Internship opportunity. This is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting employability outcomes for young people in South Ayrshire.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to a range of new projects identified as part of our transformational change programme. The successful candidates will work with us to improve services, streamline and modernise processes and working arrangements.
Contributing to these projects will provide the opportunity to develop skills and gain practical, valuable knowledge and experience. There will also be the opportunity to receive formal training and development, including targeted development days, as well as the opportunity to be coached and mentored by experienced professionals.
Entry criteria: To qualify for this internship candidates must be a Graduate, aged under 29.
Qualifications: The post is working within our Health Development Team, therefore it would be advantageous for candidate to have a Sport or Physical Activity related degree, however we would also welcome applicants with other degrees.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Review existing data collection methods across the range of health referral programmes and make recommendations to streamline and simplify where appropriate.
Support the design and delivery of a range of tools, including customer surveys, to measure satisfaction and impact of the service.
Assist in the analysis and reporting of customer uptake and retention across the health development programme.
Additional information Salary: The Grade of this post is Grade 1/ Level 3, the hourly rate is from £8.14 to £8.38 and the annual salary is from £14, 856 to £15,294.
In addition, please note that South Ayrshire Council applies the Scottish Local Government Living Wage for its workforce. This means that the minimum hourly rate for South Ayrshire Council employees will be £8.51 and as this post currently attracts an hourly rate of less than £8.51, the difference will be paid as a pay supplement. This supplement will also be paid on hours worked beyond 37 per week and will be included in the calculation of any allowance based on a proportion of the hourly rate e.g., out with core and night working. The supplement will decrease in direct proportion to any increase in basic pay and will be subject to tax, national insurance and where appropriate, pension contributions.
This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children and protected as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made.
