About Us

BOC, a member of The Linde Group, is known as one of the world leaders in gases, engineering and healthcare. We operate in more than 100 countries across the globe and generated revenue of 17.113 billion euros in 2017. But what makes us great is our people, because they make great things happen. Guided by integrity, Linde employees take pride in what they do, because they know it makes a real difference to our customers. They are empowered to turn a challenge into an opportunity to learn and grow. This is how they take the lead, every day.

About the Programme

As a technology-based company that thrives on innovation, BOC relies on professional engineering expertise for its competitive advantage. Our engineers play a key role at all levels of the organisation, from the running and maintenance of the Company's plant operations to the setting of corporate strategy.

On completing the four year scheme, Graduates are expected to be capable of taking management responsibility and ready for CEng registration in their relevant institution (IMechE, IChemE or IET). The Scheme is flexible and suits both engineering management and technical specialist roles.

Professional Engineering Chartership

The scheme provides a supportive learning environment to encourage the achievement of chartered status through the IChemE / IMechE / IET, which are internationally recognised. Graduates are assigned a mentor as soon as they accept a job offer with us. All our mentors are senior managers in our organisation, who are recognised by the professional engineering institutions. Our mentors work closely with our graduates, providing regular guidance, advice and their expertise in the industry to assist with their development and professional Chartership. Our graduates are supported by their line managers on each placement and have six monthly appraisals and reviews to provide regular feedback.

Supporting the graduate scheme is the Graduate Charter. This document provides all the detail and guidance about how the scheme works practically. Help and assistance is provided with each change of placement, with accommodation at the start, either a hotel for a set period or help towards the first months’ rent.

Scheme Leadership

Heading up and driving the graduate scheme we have a Graduate Steering Committee, which has full Senior Director sponsorship, between the Head of Engineering and the Executive Leadership Team representing the operational areas of the business. The committee meets quarterly to review the scheme and development.

Placement Opportunities

The scheme involves four annual placements which are real jobs within the organisation, at different sites throughout the UK. The placements provide a wide range of challenging experiences and opportunities to get involved in different project work and day to day activities. These roles will cover different departments and business areas within the organisation to ensure each graduate as a wide range of experiences and development as part of the scheme. This includes experiencing different locations.

In year 2, 3 and 4 graduates are provided with the details of the placements available the following year. Graduates will discuss placements with their mentor before submitting a preferred choice based on personal preference, previous experience and criteria needed from a chartership perspective.

Who are we looking for?

The BOC engineering graduate scheme looks for graduates who are passionate about engineering and developing their careers, ambitious and keen to get on and take up all the opportunities given to them as part of this scheme. We have graduates who are motivated, self driven, and keen to get involved in projects and activities, always providing the offer of help or assistance.
