As an intern at Macquarie, you’ll sit side-by-side with business leaders and have the opportunity to work on live projects and transactions from day one. Opportunities

Corporate Asset Finance

  • Asset Finance

Macquarie Corporate and Asset Finance provides specialist finance and asset management solutions to our clients across a range of industries across the globe. Our Asset Finance team finance the assets people use every day, such as airplanes, trains, motor vehicles, and other equipment related to the technology, healthcare and mining industries with an asset and loan portfolio is excess of £18.9 billion.

During your internship with our Asset Finance team, you’ll be given the opportunity to get involved in a number of projects relating to existing and targeted assets within the Asset Finance business; this may include research, credit analysis, transaction structuring, portfolio management and working with the business development team. You’ll have exposure to the assets we finance and the long standing relationships we have built with our clients.

Technology

Our Technology team works on delivering innovative technological solutions to provide fast and reliable systems to place trades, deliver value and position us to be competitive within the market. Our teams are responsible for driving simplification and consolidation of our technology architecture and efficiency of our key infrastructure platforms and own strategic initiatives such as cyber security, and public and private cloud programs.

  • Software Developers/ Front Office Support Engineers/ Business Analysts

Technology is an integrated division with a strong infrastructure and operations basis that supports all of Macquarie, layered with strong business and enterprise-wide solutions. Our portfolio of work spans across significant strategic initiatives, business initiatives and external and regulatory initiatives. The work we do demonstrates the extent to which Technology is integral to Macquarie’s businesses.

You’ll work closely with senior IT and finance professionals, learning how technology is used to manage risk in a global financial institution. Key responsibilities of the role include implementing software design, testing and deployment best practices; identifying opportunities to improve technology infrastructure and executing the process of planning and communicating change. You will develop and code our applications and platforms, which will involve high technical analysis, problem solving skills and mathematical abilities.

  • Network Engineers

As a Summer Intern you will work in an agile environment, focusing on supporting releases of products and platforms. Your role will involve hands-on trouble shooting and incident management and you will run and maintain code bases, application health and automate testing capabilities. You will be part of a team which is responsible for network monitoring, troubleshooting and overseeing operational projects which will involve high technical analysis and problem solving skills

Risk Management

  • Market Risk

The RMG Market Risk team sets and monitors limits for all trading and banking activities across Macquarie. It ensures all market risks are identified and approved on new trading products and businesses and reviews liquidity implications arising out of trading activities.

As a summer intern you’ll be immersed in the global financial markets; understanding market drivers and keeping abreast of news and trends. You’ll assess the risk and reward balance in new businesses and transactions and build relationships with traders to ensure they comply with market risk limits.

  • Credit Risk

The RMG Credit Risk team conducts in-depth analysis of counterparties and transactions in order to make decisions reflecting our risk appetite.

As a summer intern in Credit, you’ll prepare detailed financial and credit analysis on a portfolio of counterparties across various economic sectors. You’ll also work with other areas of RMG on new transactions as well as build relationships with traders and originators to ensure they comply with credit limits

Commodities and Global Markets

Our Commodities and Global Markets (CGM) group specialises in providing clients with access to markets, financing, financial hedging, research and market analysis, and physical execution across energy; metals, mining and agriculture; fixed income and currencies; credit; futures and equity markets.

  • Financial Markets

We’ve been active in financial markets for more than 40 years and our Financial Markets businesses provide clients with up-to-the-minute information to help them make the most of market opportunities. Our global network provides 24-hour execution services across foreign exchange and futures markets, as well as futures clearing.

As a Summer Intern in Financial Markets you’ll get the chance to work on our Futures Execution, Futures Clearing or Foreign Exchange desk. You’ll be working in a fast-paced and dynamic dealing room environment, alongside industry leaders, many of whom have been at the forefront of key market developments.

  • Central Risk

Our Central Risk team provides our businesses globally with pricing and risk management assistance, and an independent view on how risk is managed and represented in our trading systems.

As a Summer Intern in our Central Risk team, you’ll work with businesses to identify and manage risk in systems and processes, design tactical and strategic solutions to support our culture of risk-based decision making and have the opportunity to evaluate the development of new products. You’ll also undertake thorough financial risk and P&L analysis for derivatives and structured products, and work on projects used by all of CGM’s trading businesses.

  • Marketing & Communications

Our Marketing & Communications team is a group of professional storytellers who design, develop and implement internal and external communications initiatives that promote and maximise understanding of our products and services. The team works with all of our businesses and offices globally.

As a Summer Intern in our Marketing & Communications team you’ll have the opportunity to work across a range of disciplines, including internal communications, brand and marketing, digital and social platforms. You’ll have a flair for writing, be a creative thinker and be passionate about social media.

  • Equities

Our Equities businesses deliver a global perspective complemented by customised local solutions to help clients navigate the global marketplace. Our global equities platform provides clients with cash equities distribution, equity derivatives, research, syndication, corporate access and securities trading.

  • Commodities

Our Commodity Markets and Finance (CMF) division is a market-leader in providing clients with access to global physical and financial commodity markets and our presence across the entire spectrum of the commodities markets, enables us to deliver comprehensive financing and risk management solutions for our clients

As a Summer Intern in CMF, you’ll work in a fast-paced and dynamic dealing room environment. You’ll work on a trading desk, be part of a globally connected team, and work alongside industry leaders, many of whom have been at the forefront of key market developments.

Asset Management

Our Asset Management business actively manages money for investors across multiple asset classes, including infrastructure, energy, real estate, agriculture and specialist investments. We’re a leading global investor with £271.3 billion in assets under management. We are looking for Interns to join us in both of the divisions below.

  • Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets (MIRA)

You will join our infrastructure and real assets team, helping to manage and invest in companies that underpin communities, economies, and supply chains. Relied on by over 100 million people around the world each day, our assets include airports, roads, rail, telecommunications, real estate, and energy infrastructure.

As an Intern you will be given the opportunity to help shape the future direction of our business –working on projects and research relating to existing and targeted assets, and assisting with acquisitions through detailed valuation analysis and due diligence.

  • Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investments Solutions (MIDIS)

As an Intern in the MIDIS team, you’ll also work on key Infrastructure assets. These assets are typically less risky and generate stable cash flow over long periods of time. Institutional Investors such as pension funds seek to match their long-dated liabilities by investing in infrastructure debt assets which generate long-dated stable returns. By joining the MIDIS business, you’ll assist in originating, structuring and executing transactions by helping infrastructure asset owners issue debt products and use institutional investor funds to invest in these products.

Over the summer, you’ll get involved in all aspects of investment analysis including building and reviewing sensitivities on financial models, reviewing due diligence on potential investments and assessing the appropriate debt level and debt structure for the potential acquisition under the supervision of your team. You’ll also have responsibility for aspects of portfolio management as well as producing investment papers and client requests.

Investment Banking

As an Investment Banking Analyst in Macquarie Capital, you’ll be working in corporate advisory on behalf of our clients covering a range of industry sectors and also have exposure to Macquarie’s market leading principal investing capabilities. Our advisers are empowered to think innovatively to address individual client challenges and create opportunities, thinking beyond individual transactions to become a trusted adviser to our clients over the long haul. Our principal investing capabilities set us apart from other advisory firms and mean you’ll be involved in identifying opportunities to deploy our own capital alongside our clients in order to help make Macquarie Capital a market leading investor and trusted financial adviser to our clients over the long haul.

We are recruiting interns in both divisions below and you can expect to be fully trained to conduct financial analysis from day one, as well as review due diligence materials to identify risks and business value drivers and preparing materials for external meetings and pitch books for winning new business. You will develop the full range of financial modelling and commercial skills that come from an investment banking role at a world-class financial institution, laying the foundations for an exceptional career in financial services.

  • Americas, Europe & Asia and Real Estate

With leading positions across Education, Industrials, Healthcare, Resources, Telecommunications Media & Technology, Financial Institutions and Real Estate, you’ll have the opportunity to work across multiple sectors to develop your potential. In your role you’ll work across Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity and Debt Capital Markets as well as our principal investing group.
