Job Title: Graduate Mechanical Engineer
Location: Loughborough
Salary: £26,780
My client, a company specialising in the design, manufacture and operation of sophisticated bespoke equipment servicing various industries is currently recruiting for a graduate mechanical engineer.
You be responsible for the design and development of mechanical equipment and you will be taking responsibility for the design from concept to production, and throughout its service life.
You will need a degree in Mechanical Engineering with knowledge in design and manufacture, and the creation of engineering drawings. In addition, it would be advantageous to have a working knowledge in some of the following: material selection, small mechanisms, 3D modelling and FEA. You will have strong inter-personal and communication skills, together with a good work ethic and be able to work within a team.
Key Responsibilities
• Design equipment with regard to environmental factors (space, pressure, temperature and vibration) that meet verbal and written specifications and in liaison with the Research and Engineering group. The finished design to conform to our philosophy of ease of manufacture and serviceability, to be rugged, durable and reliable.
• Carry out analysis of designs by hand calculations, finite element analysis etc. to ensure design requirements are met.
• Build and test prototype assemblies to prove out the design, ensuring that it meets required specifications.
• To complete engineering drawings needed by the production department.
• To procure or to design and document any tooling, jigs or specialist equipment required by the production department, and to document the instructions for use.
• Investigate and seek to resolve any issues arising in connection with the production and operation of equipment.
• Support the design throughout its life cycle, modifying and improving it as required.
