We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Anaesthetic Nurse / ODP to join our dynamic Theatre Team at Kingston Hospital. Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a district general hospital that provides excellent opportunity for personal and professional development of our staff and has links with both St George’s University of London, and Kingston Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences. We also provide excellent local care to the residents of Kingston, Richmond, Twickenham, Wandsworth, Surrey and Sutton.
We provide a full range of diagnostic and treatment services and have a national reputation for innovative developments in healthcare, particularly in ‘patient-focused’ care across our services including emergency, day surgery and maternity services. Staff are committed to providing quality healthcare, working hard to ensure that we build up a wide range of clinical services.
We carried out a big piece of work with our staff and patients and developed a set of shared values and behaviours – to be caring, safe and responsible, and to value each other.
We are looking for Band 5s with a relevant Anaesthetic qualification and a Mentorship qualification to come and join our developing unit. You will be rotated through Main Theatres DSU and the Obstetric unit. After an orientation period of 3 months you will be expected to participate in the night rota and on call rota and out of hour’s work which is shared out fairly between band 5s/6s and also flexible working
We are currently piloting a scheme for band 5s to progress to a band 6 within a time period, subject to you meeting our performance criteria and passing our internal assessment.
This means as a band 5, after meeting the above you would be awarded 65% of a band 6 salary and then gradually progress to a full band 6 salaries. We believe in rewarding highly skilled and motivated, patient care focused staff. For newly appointed band 6s you will have an incremental scale to progress through.
You will also to be able to professionally develop by undertaking the many in house training and external courses offered. You will as Anaesthetic Practitioners be expected to participate in the Anaesthetic Departments monthly Audit meetings by presenting an area of interest to you in Anaesthesia. We have a monthly meeting with a Consultant Anaesthetist who has our interests at heart.
We carry out a wide variety of Surgery including Trauma, CEPOD, General, and Urology, Plastics, Gynaecology and Laparosopic procedures.
Informal visits welcome and may be if you are not sure, we can arrange a morning or afternoon shadowing one of our staff so you at least ‘get a feel for the place’.
