The Nuffield Trust offers academic placements to exceptional people who can demonstrate an interest in our areas of research.
You will work alongside us for a period of up to nine months in our policy and/or quantitative research teams, on a full or part-time basis (minimum 3 days per week). You will be expected to already have research skills and be able to work under supervision but using your own initiative. At the end of your placement we would expect that you will be an author on one of our renowned research reports as recognition of your contribution during your time with us. We will also encourage you to write your own blogs for the Nuffield Trust, relating to your research work.
As you will appreciate, we are looking for exceptional candidates.
You will have an excellent academic record: your first degree should be a high Upper Second or preferably a First. You will then have undertaken some post-graduate research study in a field closely related to one of our strategic priorities. You may have finished your Masters and be thinking about a PhD, or you may have already started or completed your PhD. In any case, we will expect you to be able to demonstrate how the academic work you have already completed is related to our work and to tell us your ideas for taking it forward.
While you are with us we will involve you in as much of the life of the Trust as possible. You will be invited to all our internal meetings and seminars, share in communications activities and be encouraged to attend relevant events at other organisations. You will be supported throughout your placement by your line manager, and provided with development opportunities, regular feedback and support.
To apply, please do so ONLY via the Nuffield Trust website and email your completed Application Form and Recruitment Monitoring Form to the Recruitment team at the Nuffield Trust by no later than 23:59, Sunday 25 November 2018. Please remember to quote the correct reference.
Offers of employment will be conditional upon the receipt of two satisfactory references and candidates providing proof of their right to work in the United Kingdom.
The Nuffield Trust is committed to being an equal opportunities employer. We wish to ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and appointed solely on their suitability for the post irrespective of ethnicity, gender, age, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, marital / civil partnership status or religion / belief.
