What you will be doing

We’ll be recruiting for various roles across the Commercial Division. Initially, you'll apply for a single role (Commercial Assistant) and we'll then use our Assessment Centre and your preferences to work out which role and team would suit you best. All roles are well positioned to gain full insight into the Commercial functions of a Tour Operator.

Product Assistant:

As a Product Assistant you will be responsible for supporting the planning and product activity and helping to implement the product strategy for a set of resort areas within the TUI UK portfolio. You will play a fundamental role in analysing the cost base of your resorts and then setting the pricing/ margin strategy accordingly to ensure your destinations meet both financial and strategic objectives.

In addition, you will work with a wide range of teams across the business to help deliver both our printed brochures and our web content and ensure that our product is promoted correctly and accurately across all distribution channels at all times.

You will monitor competitor activity and performance, analysing and predicting market trends. You will also be responsible for monitoring sales and quality to ensure you have the right product offering both right now and for future seasons to ensure we continue to help our customers “discover their smile.”

Trading Assistant (Cruise or Beach):

As a Trading Assistant you will be responsible for a number of holiday destinations/cruise ships; striving to optimise sales, profitability and maximise both flight and hotel/cabin performance.

In this analytical role, you will be reviewing sales trends and manipulating yield system to make effective recommendations to deliver your resort/ship trading strategy, in line with market conditions - think the stock market but for holidays!

You will constantly monitor and react to demand in the competitive holiday market, taking relevant pricing actions to maximise opportunities and overcome any barriers to sales. Your decisions will directly drive the price offering to our customers and ultimately feed in to the overall financial performance of TUI UK&I.

You’ll interact with other parts of the business regularly, making recommendations and having discussions that will aid to drive both current and future business strategy.

What we are looking for
  • Undergraduates looking for a 12 month, full time placement position as part of a sandwich degree
  • 300 UCAS points from 3 A-Levels
  • Expected degree classification of a 2:1 or higher
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
  • Motivated team player
  • Confidence and competence with numbers and analysis
  • Ambition, passion and a desire to work in the Travel Industry

4. Assessment Day The final step in our application process is the Assessment Day. There’ll be several different exercises to run through as well as a competency based interview. You’ll find out more about this closer to the time.
