You will be part of Airlines Product Expertise, a department of the Research and Development section for airlines. Our department has a strong international culture, with team members located in Nice, London, Dallas, Singapore, Dubai and Salt Lake City. We have experts specialised in cross-disciplinary studies, and some team members lead very large projects with airlines. From our role, we're a natural position to work with leaders from the airlines, understand and influence the airline industry.
Software that airlines use to manage their sales and operations has reached an incredible level of sophistication. In the last 10 years, this software has reached levels of features, personalisation, and efficiency that used to be unthinkable before. At the same time, this software needs to operate flawlessly. Any software failure that could impact airports or the integrity of financial data is not an option. All functions of this software are tightly linked: for example, changes in the airline reservation system could potentially impact the airport, the airline financial services, partner airlines, the loyalty system, the fraud detection and many more. In these conditions, making changes to the software used by airlines has become a work for highly-skilled employees. Those employees, need to know deeply many functions of the airline business, and how they connect altogether. When an airline asks for a change in software, our experts need to anticipate the potential impacts that a change in one area can have in all the other areas. This analysis of impacts by skilled experts has proved very efficient, but requires a high level of training, and is time-consuming.
Through this internship you will help the team design and build an intelligent assistant, that will analyse in advance changes done the airlines software. This intelligent assistant will detect risks, potential side effects, and assist the expert in the analysis of all the impacts. This internship involves artificial intelligence, machine and deep learning, information crowdsourcing, and natural language processing. Specifically, the intern will design and implement techniques that allow to collect training data composed of natural language and structured information. Based on this training data, the trainee will design and select machine learning models to predict impacts of future software changes.
- You understand how to collect business needs and can design software that answers them
- You understand artificial intelligence, machine/deep learning, and natural language processing
- If possible, you can develop web interfaces
- You have good presentation skills
- You are willing to learn about the information system of a commercial airline
