In 2018 we acquired the American brand Regal Entertainment Group the second largest cinema operator in USA.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to be based in our fantastic head office in Brentford with occasional site visits. Our Brentford offices are accessible from Gunnersbury tube station on the District Line and Overground or via a short walk from Kew Bridge mainline station. Reporting into the VP Design & Construction and working closely with the construction team. As our Junior Quantity Surveyor you'll manage costs relating to refurbishment and new build projects, from the initial budgets to the final costs. You'll be involved in a project from inception through to delivery and will seek to minimise the cost of projects and enhance value for money whilst achieving required statutory standards and quality. As our Junior Surveyor you will prepare estimates and costs of the work and when the project is in progress, you will carry out and agree valuations, keeping track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and creating reports to show spend against original budgets.

Junior Quantity Surveyor – Key Responsibilities

- Complete measurements, costings, valuations and forecasts

- Assisting project managers in preparing tender documents including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the VP Design & Construction

- Attending meetings and dealing with contractual and legal issues

- Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work

- Perform risk, value management and cost control

- Prepare and analyse costings for tender and provide advice on contractual claims

- Prepare Tender Reports, participate in Contractor interviews and advise on Contractor selection

- Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports

- Value completed work and arrange payments

- Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use and advise on use of appropriate contracts for particular works

- Fully understand the implications of CDM and Health & Safety Regulations.

Junior Quantity Surveyor – Key Skills/Experience

- Previously worked for a main contractor and completed a build project

- Knowledge and awareness of the different building contracts in current use currently

- Understand the implications of health and safety regulations

- Strong numerical and financial management skills with a practical mind set

- Practical and logical mind and a methodical way of thinking with strong negotiation skills

- Creative and innovative approach to problem solving with strong numeracy and financial management skills

- The ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages

- Comfortable writing clear and precise reports and to relate complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people

- Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters.

- Previous work experience in a similar role is desired although we would also welcome applications from graduate candidates with strong placement experience.

- Ideally degree or professional qualification accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). This can be a quantity surveying degree or a postgraduate conversion course from any degree.
