If you’re ready to turn your ambition into a fulfilling career, look no further. Here at NFU Mutual, we’re passionate about developing individuals who can help shape our future. That’s why if you join one of our IT Graduate Trainee Schemes, you’ll be empowered and supported to own and grow your career in the direction you choose. While both Schemes run over three years, they offer different experiences and development opportunities. You could take your career down the IT & Business Management path or move in a more tech-based direction with IT & Technical Leadership.

What does the Scheme offer?

With IT & Business Management, you will gain a holistic view of the entire IT operation. With two stages to the Scheme, you’ll first undertake a variety of shorter placements, where you’ll be able to get to know our different teams better. You will then be able to focus on three areas that interest you the most, to really grow your knowledge and skills. This scheme is aimed at those who have the potential to be future leaders and you’ll be involved in change programs which run across the whole business.

On our IT & Technical Leadership Scheme, you’ll learn first-hand about the key technologies which support the insurance industry and how to lead the teams that support those. You will experience a series of shorter term placements around the IT department which lead onto three longer placements to compliment your passions and skills.

The highlight of both schemes is the opportunity to spend an access all areas week shadowing our IT Director, where you’ll attend his meetings and be encouraged to share your opinions.

What do you need to apply?

Neither of these schemes require an IT-related degree, but it’s important that you demonstrate a keen interest in IT and technology through your CV. You’ll have an enthusiastic, positive nature and a proactive attitude – that’s really important. Keen to learn, you’ll get stuck in to every challenge and take on each opportunity that comes your way. You’ll be great with people, ready to collaborate across different teams and build strong working relationships at every level.

What’s in it for you?

We firmly believe that being actively involved in projects helps you to learn and develop faster. We’ll give you everything you need to shape your career and you’ll be supported every step of the way, with a dedicated buddy and mentor on hand to guide you. Your professional development is important to us, so we’ll help you work towards your ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), CII (Certificate in Insurance), and other relevant qualifications.

As well as a generous salary, you’ll also benefit from a contributory pension scheme, company performance related bonus, and 25 days’ holiday.
