STOCKPORT NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine
We are looking for a proactive, forward thinking and dynamic individual to join our front door team. The acute medicine team of consultants is a young, proactive team who has forged links with the emergency department, general medical specialties, primary care, diagnostics and critical care teams.
The acute medicine team is located in a brand new 59 bed acute medical unit co-located with the ambulatory care unit and emergency department, and next door to the surgical assessment unit and critical care units.
In July 2015 we were chosen as one of four ‘specialist’ hospital sites in Manchester, following a unanimous decision by the 12 Greater Manchester clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) as part of the Healthier Together programme.
A programme of reform of unscheduled care in the Trust and across Greater Manchester is underway which includes investment in and expansion of the medical specialties to complement the recent rapid expansion of Acute Medicine.
Stockport constitutes one of ten boroughs in Greater Manchester and its proximity to the Manchester Medical School has enabled the development of close working relationships with various University Departments. The general environment in Stockport and the surrounding countryside is a pleasant one, with the Cheshire Plain to the South West and the High Peak of Derbyshire to the South East. There are numerous pleasant residential areas and facilities for all types of education are good.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust’s policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £48.43. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.
The successful applicant will be issued with a contract which reflects the potential requirement for out of hours or weekend working. Any requirement to work out of hours is detailed in the job advert / job description for this post and will be discussed fully with the successful applicant on appointment. This is a deviation from the national standard consultant contract.
