Exchequer is one of the largest finance and customer service areas in the Council with many teams whose objective is to provide an excellent service to meet the needs of the residents of Southwark. Our apprentices have the opportunity to gain finance or customer service experience in one of the many areas within Exchequer Services including Revenues and Benefits, Contact Centre, Local Support, Support Services, Rent Income and Home Ownership. The Apprenticeships are designed to give you a wide understanding of the key duties and functions of specific service areas which will be assigned following the recruitment process.

Apprenticeships are more popular than ever, as more people look to gain valuable work experience to help get into the job that is right for them. It’s all about learning on the job – combining valuable experience gained from actually doing the job, with focused and relevant study towards an appropriate apprenticeship course.

Apprenticeships available include:

  • Level 4 Revenues and Welfare Officer
  • Level 3 Business Administrator
  • Level 3 Housing and Property Management
  • Level 2 Credit Controller/Collector

Whether you’ve just left school or college, or you’re ready to make a career change, we are looking for a team of up to 19 talented and committed people to join us. Throughout your journey we will teach you to understand and adhere to policies, practices, legislation that govern how our department operates.

Applicants must be able to work full time and have 5 GCSE’s at grade A* to C/9-4 or equivalent including Maths and English.
