A strong start to your career
Houlihan Lokey’s off-cycle internship programme takes place in the majority of our non-US offices across our core business lines. It is open to ambitious, highly motivated applicants around the world. Lasting between three and six months on average, the programme is an opportunity for recent graduates to learn about investment banking and to gain hands-on experience of the industry. Depending on your capabilities and contribution, you may join the many off-cycle interns who make the transition to a permanent analyst role at the end of their placement.
This is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ programme. It means that the nature of your role and the work you find yourself doing will depend on your own interests and motivations and how you apply yourself. One thing’s certain, however – you’ll be expected to make a tangible contribution to your team and your colleagues.
Whichever part of the business you’re placed with, you can expect to find yourself working on real projects, supporting live deals and having a tangible impact on your team’s day-to-day successes. It will mean often demanding work and long hours, but the rewards will far outweigh the challenges. In return for your energy and enthusiasm, you’ll gain an unrivalled insight into investment banking; the chance to be at the frontline of real transactions while learning from some of the best people in the business. You can also expect excellent support, encouragement and learning and development opportunities along the way.
What we look for
We look for applicants with a strong academic track record who have achieved a 2:1 degree or equivalent. Our off-cycle internship programme is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc and MBA) candidates.
In addition to intellectual rigour, we are looking for those with the passion, hunger and curiosity needed to succeed in our industry. Strong quantitative and analytical skills are important, of course, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills. And, as we expand geographically, the ability to speak one or more additional languages is always helpful.
Above all, you must be highly motivated and able to demonstrate a genuine interest in investment banking, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff in a demanding and rapidly changing environment. If that sounds like you, then please take the time to visit our website and take your first steps towards a career with Houlihan Lokey.
