Royal Voluntary Service is an innovative charity that focuses on inspiring people to give the gift of voluntary service to support the NHS and older people at home and in the community.
Now, we’re looking for a part time Development Worker to join our team on a contract lasting until the 15th May 2019.
This is a superb opportunity for a volunteer-focused professional to consolidate their skill-set and gain experience developing a new concept within an incredible charity.
Royal Voluntary Service has been around for over 80 years and we are dedicated to the needs of the older population. We provide services that are making a huge difference to the lives of people who may feel isolated and distant from the communities they have been part of all their lives.
As a Development Worker, you will ensure that Royal Voluntary Service’s primary method of supporting older people – volunteering – can continue to thrive and innovate.
Working directly with volunteers and potential volunteers, you will drive the development of the new retail trolley initiative.
Specifically, you will:
- Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment and retention plan
- Train and motivate volunteers who are providing the trolley service
- Co-ordinate and facilitate regular volunteer meetings and training sessions
- Liaise with other organisations to identify potential sources of volunteers
- Carry out a range of administrative tasks
Interested? To be considered, you will need:
- Experience of delivering community development and engagement activities
- Project management skills, gained in a fast-paced setting
- The proven ability to work with volunteers
- The ability to build positive working relationships
- The ability to inspire motivate and sustain community action
Enthusiastic and proactive, as a Development Worker, you will need to be comfortable holding meetings using Skype, conference facilities and face-to-face. You will also be an adept multi-tasker who can lead, inspire and engage others.
Please note, this is a part time role, working 15 hours a week from Monday to Sunday, flexibly as required.
