Bristol
Lionbridge are now looking for 4 permanent Trainee Technical Authors, to join one of their growing teams in Bristol.
+ The Trainee Technical Author will be accountable for developing knowledge and capability to be able to author tasks; meet production schedules and ensure that the quality of Authored tasks meets the set specification and standards.
+ They will ensure customer satisfaction by learning to achieve high standards of consistency and accuracy of tasks authored.
+ They will support a culture to deliver right first time documents and illustrations, and will consistently strive to improve delivery standards and exceed customer expectations
+ They will be expected to develop the ability to Author complex tasks when they arise, to strict quality standards and stringent delivery dates.
+ They are required to follow the Lionbridge Author training programme and successfully pass the assessments required to qualify as a Technical Author in the agreed timescale.

Job duties

Technical Activities / Definition / Authoring 75% Processes: Implementation/Measurement/Control 5% Technical Author Training 20%
NOTE: The ratio of the different tasks above is only an example and is likely to change depending on the business unit management priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Maintain personal training and development records.
+ Develop the capability to review Data to ensure that it is robust and satisfactory for work to commence on, or highlight to Technical Lead.
+ Compliance: Ensures Lionbridge Authoring processes are followed.
+ Culture: Delivery of 'Right First Time' ethos
+ Process Improvement: supports continuous improvements in process and delivery and works with stakeholders internally to share best practice.
+ Ensures the creation of supporting documentation, guides and training logs.
+ People: Works with Production team, Team Lead, Technical Lead and Training Manager to consistently improve knowledge/performance, and highlights concerns to necessary management stakeholders
Accountability
People: Works with Production team, Team Lead, Technical Lead and Training Manager to consistently improve knowledge/performance, and highlights concerns to necessary management stakeholders
+ Maintain processes and quality levels in line with contractual and ISO Standards.
+ Ensure continued development to meet individual objectives.
+ Work with Line Manager to ensure personal development, to meet individual objectives
+ Monitor and control Authored task quality and the delivery of projects, highlighting risks.

+ Team Lead / Technical Lead
+ Technical Authors / Senior Technical Authors / QA Author / Illustrators
+ Corporate and local IT and System Development teams.
+ HR
+ Other GCE and UK/IND teams and operational support staff.
Qualifications/skills
+ Technical and Engineering knowledge and experience gained in an Engineering industry - Marine preferable but not essential.
+ Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
+ Must be familiar with email and internet communications.
+ Good written and verbal communication skills.
+ Adaptable with a proactive approach to work.
+ Resourceful, confident and able to take initiative.
