Research Assistant Internship
As an Intern at Seefar you will conduct research that supports Seefar’s global work on our key themes: displaced people, security and justice, preventing violent extremism, low-skill migration and combating human trafficking/modern slavery. Responsibilities will be set according to experience and background, and may include: support to the design and implementation of research projects, data analysis, production of research outputs, administration of research projects, and helping to develop our external research communications. You will have thematic knowledge relevant to our programmes, and a good understanding of research processes in an academic or market research environment. However, applicants who do not have subject matter expertise are encouraged to apply as long as they bring a keenness to develop professional research skills in those fields. This is a paid six-month internship, requiring a minimum of three days per week. You can live wherever you like and must be fluent in English.Job Description

We are looking for someone with:
- A proven interest in research relevant to Seefar’s programmes. Alternatively, proven interest in research with a social objective and a desire to develop those skills within a migration or social inclusion program.
- A sound understanding of research processes and experience implementing internationally-focused research or policy projects. These may include academic theses or projects, other internships and work experience, or volunteer work.
- A track record conducting research and analysis, combining primary and secondary data sources to produce high-quality reports, and other outputs.
- Motivation to learn, develop, and grow to achieve social impact, with an openness to new places and cultures, and high comfort working with a diverse, geographically spread team.
- Comfort learning and adapting to new software, and willingness to communicate using Skype.
- Complete fluency in oral and written English.
The following are the primary responsibilities of the role, with estimated allocations of time and attention.
Deliver: Project and Mission Implementation
Approximately 85% of your time and attention:
- With supervision, design research frameworks and add input on research methodologies.
- Conduct ad hoc quantitative data analysis projects using Stata or other relevant statistical software:
- Clean data, import into Stata or other relevant software, and code variables;
- Perform basic descriptive and inferential analysis;
- With guidance, produce analytical documents based on key quantitative findings.
Approximately 10% of your time and attention:
- Strengthening the Enterprise’s reputation and profile in research.
- Assist with research publication and dissemination activities, including:
- Coordinating the copyediting and typesetting process;
- Promoting via social media and email;
Direct: Global Management
Approximately 5% of your time and attention:
- Cooperating with other areas of the Migration Program and Enterprise to support corporate management overall. For example, adhering to financial and HR procedures.

To excel in this role, you will have experience in conducting research and passion to develop those skills working on migration, social inclusion or modern slavery issues. You have statistical analysis, and/or qualitative analysis skills, preferably with some experience using software for this. You enjoy working with data, conducting analysis, and working collaboratively. Your comprehension and writing skills are excellent and you have the ability to synthesise and make sense of information and data from diverse academic and non-academic sources. You are able to produce outputs that meet expectations. You recognise the importance of being highly organised, prioritising, and being highly productive. You enjoy travelling, have spent time outside of your country of origin, and are motivated by an Enterprise performance framework focused on social impact. You have a sense of humor and a can-do attitude.
