York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has an ambitious programme of service modernization and a reputation for providing high quality services. In line with our outlook, we are now inviting applications for a maternity leave post based at York Hospital.
Vacancies have arisen to commence January 2019 – January 2020 for Trust Grade Doctors (ST3+ equivalent) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. These are service posts, however, good training and teaching facilities are available within the departments and in the Postgraduate Medical Centres based at the Hospitals. The need for the successful candidate to attend clinical and generic skills training will be dependent on the individuals’ needs. Candidates must have MBBS or equivalent medical qualification and successful completion of part 1 MRCOG at time of application.
Candidates must be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current license to practice. Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/ Good Medical Practice. The ability to practice independently under consultant supervision and supervise and teach junior medical staff is essential. The successful candidates will participate in a full-shift rota. There are regular teachings within the department for all doctors in training and the department also teaches Medical Students from the Hull/York Medical School. Postholders have an educational supervisor and study leave is supported. This post is not recognized for training but successful applicants will receive equivalent training opportunities to those in recognized training posts. Please note; the acquisition of Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust was completed in July 2012.
Candidates must be aware of the organization’s expectation, (where it is a requirement of the service) for them to be prepared to work across any of the Hospital sites managed by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Hospital sites include, York, Selby, Scarborough, Malton, Bridlington and Whitby.
