Our Finance team plays a huge role in driving Royal Mail’s performance. As part of our Finance graduate programme, you’ll take the lead on projects that contribute to our ongoing transformation and work with colleagues helping to deliver our financial strategy.

Programme overview

  • Three-and-a-half year programme
  • Four separate placements
  • £27,000 per year (£2,250pm) starting salary plus location allowances: Regions from £945 per year to £4,800 per year for inner London, £3,126 for outer London
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) professional qualification sponsorship
  • Management training to develop leadership skills
  • Support from buddies and mentors throughout the programme
  • Minimum 2:1 degree in any subject (finance or numerate degree would be an advantage)
  • Locations nationwide – graduates are expected to relocate during the programme
  • Right to work full time in the UK required
  • Closing date 26th October 2018
  • Interviews and assessment centres in November/early Dec 2018
  • Start Sept 2019.

About the programme

With four separate placements, set over three-and-a-half years, you’ll experience the breadth of our business – from investment appraisal and treasury to performance management, and operational and regional finance. Putting your strong analytical and numerical skills to work, you’ll discover the dynamic commercial environment behind Royal Mail and develop the decision-making skills you’ll need to progress into more senior roles. This will be further developed by structured leadership development along the way.

Getting to grips with the scale and complexity of the business needs further technical expertise, so you’ll start working towards your Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) professional qualification in year one. And while we expect you to use your initiative and champion your own development, you’ll also benefit from the guidance and support you need to build a successful career at the top of our business.

What we’re looking for

A finance or accounting degree would be an advantage, but regardless of your degree discipline we look for graduates who are strongly analytical and numerate. The skills to thrive in a dynamic commercial environment are also essential. You need to be motivated, proactive and persuasive and have the potential to develop your people skills to work successfully with even the most senior of decision-makers.

Whether you’re collaborating with colleagues or helping to deliver our financial strategy – your growing confidence as a communicator and curiosity will underpin your development and learning over the course of the programme.

Graduates are expected to relocate throughout the programme to any of our main sites including London and Chesterfield and we offer some financial support and time off to move as part of our relocation policy.
