Associate Product Manager

Role Summary

The Associate Product Manager works within the Product Services team in London. The primary purpose of the role is to work on the development of new products and the management of existing products for the EMEA business, from idea generation, through to design and launch and lifecycle management. Products are largely UCITS Dublin domiciled vehicles, but also include segregated accounts and QIAIF structures as well as a range of UK ICVC, Cayman funds and French FCPs.

The Associate Product Manager is expected to manage and coordinate product development and management activities in conjunction with other team members and to provide support on sales activities throughout Russell Investments when requested. This will involve working closely with other product team members as well as Russell Investment’s Go To Market (Sales and Client Relationship), Legal, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Investment Division and Operations groups.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

Competitor research & regulatory impact analysis

  • Assisting in maintaining awareness of Regulatory and competitor landscape.
  • Preparing focused research to support and make recommendations on development and evolution of range.
  • Preparing regular and ad hoc reports on competitor sales/products.

Analysis & Product Governance

  • Assisting with analysis and data compilation in order to provide background for launches/mergers and assisting with compiling materials for governance (Product Strategy Committee, Global Product Committee, Boards).
  • Assisting Director with preparations for quarterly Board submissions.

Implementation of product initiatives and special projects

  • Assisting with coordinating product implementation for initiatives working with Legal, Operations, Investments etc.
  • Assisting with identification of structure specific requirements and resolution of issues as they arise throughout product implementation process.
  • Where necessary, helping to ensure that capabilities are developed and that ongoing responsibilities are appropriately assigned to relevant teams.
  • Facilitating EGMs and AGMs and share class launches.
  • Participating in “special projects” initiated by groups outside of Go To Market and Investment Division e.g. benchmark changes.

Product lifecycle management

  • Assisting in the assessment of the EMEA fund range for rationalization or changes to funds and share classes.
  • Assisting with prospectus changes and internal communications to Go To Market and other business units or Board reporting.

Process Management

  • Supporting the Director, ensuring that processes maintain momentum.
  • Ensuring documentation is updated and communicated appropriately.
  • Suggesting improvements.
  • Managing processes as allocated by the Director.

Assist with other internal Committees

  • Assisting the Director with input to Audit, Risk, Investment or Product Strategy Committee reports or updates to senior management

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • University undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification
  • Some knowledge of financial markets, investment management and the marketplace
  • Experience in the investment management profession, ideally comprising of client exposure.
  • Previous Product Development experience and some knowledge of European fund structures preferred
  • Knowledge of retail products preferred
  • Obtained, or agree to obtain the Investment Management Certificate.
  • Studying or intending to study for CFA (or other finance related professional qualifications) will be preferred
  • Project management skills
  • Good writing skills
  • Ability to prioritise & to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Strong organisational, professional and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in highly pressured team
  • Proficiency with Powerpoint, Word and Excel essential
