Royal Voluntary Service is an innovative charity that focuses on inspiring people to give the gift of voluntary service to support the NHS and older people at home and in the community.
We are now looking for a part time Development Worker to join us on a six month contract and support the delivery of our retail trolley service in Western General Hospital.
In this important role, you will have the chance to drive the success of a service that brings patients healthy snacks and helps to ease the stress and upheaval a hospital stay can bring.
What’s more, while our trolleys help us to reach more patients, they also raise funds that enable us to continue our vital work, meaning you’ll have plenty of opportunities to make a positive impact during your contract.
As a Development Worker, you’ll establish a new volunteer-led retail trolley service within Western General Hospital.
Within a welcoming environment, you’ll recruit volunteers to lead or operate the trolley service and provide them with the support they need to make the service a success.
Additionally, you will:
- Mentor and train volunteers
- Promote Royal Voluntary Service and our cause
- Act as a bridge between local teams
- Carry out risk assessments
Interested? To be considered, you will need:
- Experience of delivering community development and engagement activities
- Project management skills, gained in a fast-paced setting
- Experience of working with volunteers
- The ability to inspire motivate and sustain community action
Enthusiastic and proactive, as a Development Worker, you’ll be a great communicator who can inspire and motivate others. A highly-organised approach and the ability to work on your own initiative is also key.
Please note, this is a part time role, working 15 hours a week flexibly over five days.
