Get onboard the UTC Aerospace Operations and Supply Chain team and play a part in managing our innovative products from inception to delivery. Operations and Supply Chain employees have the opportunity to network across our businesses and functions, all while improving the productivity, quality, and efficiency of our operations worldwide.
As a Supply Chain New Product Introduction Fall Intern for the Engine Systems business unit located in Windsor Locks, CT you will have the opportunity to serve as the focal point for procurement activities with assigned suppliers. Specific responsibilities include building supplier relationships, learning to utilize supply chain tools, learning to execute the request for quote process, and purchase order placement, under supervision from more senior associates. This offers the opportunity for exposure to many different disciplines within the UTAS environment.
The selected candidate will be required to support and participate in a team environment and will be an active participant in their skill development and learn to perform in a continuous improvement environment. New Product Introduction (NPI) reads across all aspects of supply chain competencies providing an excellent proving ground for motivated individuals with interest in building a strong base within UTC’s supply chain organizations. Success in this role is defined by forging strong supplier relationships, stronger contracts, taking ownership of the development process, and flawless execution to program and organizational goals. New Product Introduction associates will be exposed to all phases of product development (proposal, preliminary design, final design, production readiness, the transition to production), 2) support the Product Cost Reduction team activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The role will focus on taking new products through the development lifecycle while working in an Integrated Product Team structure
  • A key activity will be to develop and execute standard work within the Procurement function for both development programs up to and including the transition to production and for supply base transitions
  • The position requires a strong integration with the core Supply Management team; leveraging the Commodity Strategies and Global Sourcing initiatives to maximize the impact of new programs for cost, quality, and delivery
  • The individual will be responsible for the execution of development programs in terms of delivery, quality, and design to cost targets
  • The role requires an understanding of Global logistics with a knowledge base that includes the basics of State and Commerce Department import/export compliance requirements
  • Understanding procurement activities in total Aerospace product lifecycle (design, development, testing, production, aftermarket)


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or another related field
  • Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must have completed 30 hours of college coursework
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work independently with some direction
  • Professional who is results oriented and a team player
  • Great collaborator willing to reach out to subject matter experts for help and also be patient and calm under pressure
  • Previous internship experience is a plus
Education: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or another related field.
