The Role Global Marine are looking to expand their P&I capabilities and are seeking to employ an additional Senior Account Executive/Broker to join their P&I team based in London. The role will involve responsibility for a portfolio of challenging and varied Marine clients requiring ‘hands-on’, relationship building to assist them with all aspects of their Marine insurance requirements with particular emphasis to their P&I coverage. Guiding existing clients through renewals and mid-term amendments, including presentations to the appropriate P&I clubs or markets. A key part of the role will also include the targeting and developing of new business opportunities either independently or working closely with the rest of the Marine P&I team.Details of the role
  • Client Portfolio Management
  • Develop a strong relationship with clients, understanding their insurance needs and ensuring that these are fulfilled
  • Understand changes in client circumstances to ensure that the cover provided continues to match their needs
  • Understand the clients’ business and their risk management needs and look for solutions to deliver those needs through the provision of ongoing service.
  • Understand, apply and adhere to the business unit policies and procedures.
  • Identify primary budget holders and decision makers within clients, establish and maintain active relationships with these people
  • Provide technical, industry and subject matter expertise and guidance where required
  • Draw on expertise within specialist technical teams within the BU and across the Group for clients as required
  • Determine appropriate solutions, structure, price and placement strategies that meet the clients’ needs and deliver profitable business for a range of clients
  • Grow existing portfolio by identifying new opportunities from existing clients
Retention and Growth
  • Working independently or with other Account Executives / Handlers to ensure that Client retention is maintained
  • Encourage new business referrals and recommendations from existing clients
  • Undertake renewal market presentations/negotiations and make appropriate recommendations to clients
  • Actively drive the sales process and business area practice activity in relation to winning, retaining and developing profitable new clients
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospects in conjunction with the rest of the Marine team
  • Respond quickly and accurately to day to day client service requirements and new business introductions
Placement Management
  • Work closely and maintain working relationships with market contacts and carriers
  • Ensure transparency of agency and other commitments made to carriers and clients
  • Ensure compliant processing of contracts as per FCA and contract certainty requirements
  • Check client documentation and market presentations, as required
  • Design programme and pricing structures to best meet the client’s needs based on knowledge of the client, the insurance market and industry sector proposition
  • Deliver optimisation of revenue from new and existing clients.
Operational
  • Always operate within the business procedures and requirements
  • Proactively develop appropriate solutions and proposals for clients to ensure optimum client retention
  • Communicate effectively with clients, associates, markets and others where appropriate to maximise service delivery levels
The Requirements
  • Maritime Industry and/or Marine P&I insurance experience
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the International insurance market
  • Preferably educated to degree level or relevant industry experience
Skills:
  • A proven track record of delivering superior levels of client service
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Good understanding of Insurance products and services
  • Strong skills in problem solving, planning and budgeting
