Electronics Engineer - PCB Design, Embedded Software, FPGAs Newcastle with frequent travel to Barcelona £30,000 - £40,000
We are scientific start-up poised for rapid growth through our cutting edge optical devices that are used in all kinds of applications. We are currently hiring for a well-rounded Electronics Engineer with a bit of emphasis of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs).
The company is growing and we now want to bring some electronics capability in house. We expect to continue to work with the external electronics engineers in parallel, but we want the internal electronics engineer to be able to develop new designs, or tweak old designs as our products evolve. You'll be able to use our current portfolio of designs to help develop new ones.
Over the next few years our requirements will grow so there will be opportunities for career development.
We're looking for someone who is well motivated - it's essential in this kind of environment that you enjoy your work and are adaptable. Expect us to throw challenges at you and to work with Agile methods. Some technical things that we need may be new to you, but we'll offer support and external assistance as required - we are interested in you succeeding!
In return we'll expect you to communicate openly and engage with the company's growth. You'll see almost everything that's happening in the company and be a trusted member of the team. Electronics Engineer key technical skills include:
- PCB design and layout
- Good experience with FPGAs and programming
- Experience with ARM MCUs and SoC devices an advantage
- Familiarity with toolchains for Altera devices preferred
- Knowledge of C/C++/C#
- Ability to debug designs (hardware, firmware and software)
- Ability to assess new design possibilities and develop product concepts.
