The South West and Welsh Regional Burns Centre is a highly specialist unit with a wide geographical catchment area covering the South West of England and Mid, West and South Wales. It is situated in Swansea, South Wales with easy access to the beautiful Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons National Park.
We consider ourselves to be one of the leading burns centres in the UK and have exceptional success with our patients. We look after the most critically ill burn patients across the full age range, needing compassion, care and technical skill. As a dynamic Burns Centre we pride ourselves on our participation in international burns research.
We are a friendly, closely integrated multidisciplinary team and you, as a new member of staff would be warmly welcomed. We can offer you a comprehensive, competency based framework of learning facilitated by your mentor to support your career progression using a personal development plan through personal development review.
We will support your development through access to the Burns Module, ITU Module and the Emergency Management of Severe Burns course (EMSB). We encourage rotation to other areas within the Burns and Plastics Department to ensure that you also have a wide knowledge base in plastic surgery, burns rehab and wound care, giving you the tools needed to become a highly skilled burns nurse.
We welcome applications from suitably qualified nurses with either previous ITU or Burns nursing skills. We look forward to you sharing your skills in this rewarding specialty.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
