We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and well-motivated individual to fill a Trust Grade Doctor (ST1/2 level) post within our Gerontology Department. The post is for a fixed term period of 12 months, to be reviewed and extended, with an immediate start.
The new appointees will join a busy, supportive and approachable team with a strong commitment and a proven track record in providing high standards of patient care. You will become part of new developments in the provision of care for older people in Coventry and Warwickshire. This is an exciting time particularly as you will play an active role in providing a dedicated seven day specialist input into the Integrated Frailty Service, which is staffed by a comprehensive multidisciplinary team of hospital and community staff and the voluntary sector.
The geriatric medical team manages a substantive bed base of 108 at the Coventry site, as well as general rehab beds at the Rugby St Cross site. The department is run by 10 consultants who are supported by 5 specialist Registrars in Gerontology and 10 junior trainees (F2, CMT, GPVTS). There is a Consultant Nurse and 14 Advanced Nurse Practitioners in elderly care. There is also a specialist nurse team leading on Dementia, 2 clinical education leads and 2 modern matrons. Although this post is not recognised for training, the post-holder will benefit from all the terms and conditions of a Senior House Officer post and would be an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to take their career forward within Gerontology and to gain further Acute Medical exposure.
