An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist SaLT to join the Cwm Taff team. You will work in the community with adults with learning disabilities with a range of complex communication needs and/or eating, drinking or swallowing difficulties. Post basic dysphagia competencies would be very beneficial although development in this area would be supported. A key focus will be the continuing development and maintenance of the Inclusive Communication Initiative for which the department has a comprehensive training package and support system.
The post-holder would work within a multi-disciplinary team and based in the RCT East Community LD team. You will be supported by a Band 7 SaLT in the RCT East team but the Cwm Taff team also consists of a clinical lead (Band 8) and another Band 6 SaLT. You will have the opportunity to work in partnership with a range of professionals and agencies to deliver the service.
The MH&LD Delivery Unit SaLT team provides a service from Cardiff to Swansea and consists of a Professional Head of SaLT, 16 SALTs and 6 Communication Development Officers. An established supervision and support network is in place across the SLT team and development of evidence based practice/research is encouraged.
There is also a commitment within the team to provide student placements.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
