We are working with an "Outstanding" Ofsted-rated mainstream secondary school in Enfield who are currently looking to recruit an IT / ICT Technician to assist the school's Network Manager in ensuring that the school has a reliable ICT infrastructure by providing technical ICT support for learning, teaching and management.

This role will be working under the Network Manager, assisting in the day-to-day running and support of the school's network and interactive learning equipment and ensure all IT related issues are addressed, documented and resolved in a timely and professional manner. The role will initially last until Christmas, but may become longer term for the right candidate.

You will be expected to:

  • Liaise with staff, students, and suppliers in order to support the department
  • Proactive use of the School helpdesk to ensure the timely resolution of problems and requests and that regular updates of outstanding issues are maintained
  • Promote the effective use of IT equipment to staff, students and colleagues
  • Take primary responsibility for day to day problem resolution, including providing technical support and training for staff
  • Carry out troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and installation of IT equipment as necessary
  • Keep up to date and provide support on the main software packages used within the school
  • undertake available training opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous development
  • Provide basic desktop training to user following installation of new equipment
  • Operate relevant equipment/ICT packages (e.g. MS Office, internet, intranet, SIMS, E-mail)
  • Provide technical assistance with procurement of hardware and software
  • Develop a maintenance schedule for all computer hardware, software and networks, and ensure that it is followed.

The school is within walking distance to 2 overground stations and is also accessible by a number of popular bus routes.

Key skills and experience needed:

  • Previous experience of supporting a complex IT network infrastructure - preferably in a school environment
  • Technical ability in aspects of networking and IT
  • Holding or working towards an industry recognised qualification in networking or systems management
  • Keep up to date with current technologies that may impact in a school environment
  • Understanding of the Windows Desktop environment, Microsoft Office and Office365
  • Professional manner. Proactive, engaging and empathetic.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, patient and determined approach
