Description of the Business Line or Department - Summary of the business, coverage, services
Global Loan Sales is a part of the Syndicate Department within Global Finance. It is run as a joint venture with Asset Backed Products and is the principal investor market facing team, covering a broad range of bank, institutional and other fund clients across all SG's main business lines and corporate banking areas.
Main responsibilities are as follows:
- Placement of syndicated loan exposure in the primary market of deals led by SG through a team of sales professionals based in London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
- Management of exiting portfolio positions which SG has decided to exit for risk, exposure, relationship r other reasons together with Loan Trading desk
- Placement of corporate SSD and EUR PP opportunities
- Supporting Loan Trading team in their market activities
- Working with ABP team in marketing and execution of funding solutions for market counterparties
- Remaining fully abreast of all regulatory and other market developments which impact the syndicated loan and related markets.
Summary of the key purposes of the role - Summary of the key objectives and primary goals (minimum 3)
Working closely with other members of Loan Sales, Loan Syndicate and where necessary Trading teams to provide support across all parts of the Loan Sales team. In particular this involves ensuring KYC and other important regulatory information to support investor on boarding is being provided to relevant internal colleagues and approval process is being actively managed.For Primary sales, assisting in liquidity mapping for sell down of primary transactions where SG is Bookrunner assisting in particular the 6 London based sales colleagues but also Paris and other colleagues as necessaryOn secondary assisting in execution of secondary tradesBased in London Ability to meet strict deadlines, operating to a high degree of accuracy and must be a quick learner. Reasonable degree of autonomy but senior colleagues always available to support the intern as required.
Summary of responsibilities - Minimum of 6 responsibilities to be identified
Supporting senior sales colleagues in provision of regular feedback on investor appetites, market conditions and structures to Loan Syndications platform. Setting up Debtdomain sites for SG led primary deals.In conjunction with trader and Middle and Back offices, assisting in execution of sell down process for transactions where SG is bookrunner, including completing KYC and other important tasks.Secondary market activity supporting Loan Sales and other colleagues to ensure relevant information available, setting up of Debtdomain sites and including KYC approvals of counterparties
Maintenance of various internal reporting requirements including weekly risk position updates, quarterly market updates, quarterly selldown reports by Business Line/ CORI in conjunction with LST colleagues.
Level of Autonomy and Authority - Define the autonomy of the role and what the job holder can authorise and make decisions on - If applicable
The position requires the holder to display a certain degree of autonomy and with the requirement for quick and effective decision making. Whilst working directly for the Head of Loan Sales, the intern will have a mentor whose responsibility it is to ensure the intern is learning about all aspects of the business on an ongoing basis. Will be required to support senior colleagues in presentations
As the team works on the private side the job holder has to be aware of confidentiality requirements at all times.
Competencies - Define a minimum of 10 skills and technical knowledge that are essential for the Job holder to have
· Fully IT literate, especially Excel
· Good interpersonal skills
· Strong communication skills and questioning approach
· Expected to show initiative
· Flexibility in terms of willingness to take on a wide range of tasks
· Some background knowledge of financial markets expected
· Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines where necessary
