Brief Description of the Role:Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Cardiology at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. This is a fixed term post for 12 months in the first instance with an option to extend for a further 12 months. It would suit a trainee who aspires to a career in cardiology but would like additional experience in cardiology before securing a training grade post.
The cardiology service is provided by seven consultants supported by a multidisciplinary team of cardiac physiologists and specialist nurses. A broad range of cardiac investigations are available including cardiopulmonary exercise testing, stress echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and CT coronary angiography. A new purpose built dedicated cardiac catheter laboratory suite integrated with the cardiology ward opened in Oct 2014. The department runs dedicated clinics for heart failure, syncope and refractory angina. There are interventional cardiology and complex cardiac device programmes on site. The department hosts trainees from the West Yorkshire cardiology training programme and is consistently highly rated for its training experience. There is no commitment to acute medicine in this post and no on call commitments.
A contribution will be expected of the appointee to the educational commitments of the department. The appointee will be encouraged to participate in clinical research, to support and develop the clinical research programme of the department, including participation in clinical trials.
