The RBC GELP Business Technology team is in need of a Software Developer who loves hands on work, to help build scalable back-end features and frameworks.
The role will work closely with other teams within GELP, which means that you will get broad exposure to the entire equity derivatives business. You will complete tasks such designing, implementing and deploying applications and services that impact the business, with a heavy emphasis on UX (User Experience). The successful candidate will contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle including design, development, documentation, testing and operations.
Interns will gain hands-on experience within Equity Derivatives and career-building mentorship, and will have access to senior RBC Capital Markets staff. This Internship is initially for a 12 month period but could lead to a permanent role.
Great care and resources have been devoted to ensure that at the end of the programme you are exposed to tasks and learning to give you a solid understanding of the elements necessary for a successful career in software development.
The European component of the GELP Programme is run out of our London office in the heart of the City, overlooking the Thames.
What do we look for?We look for well-rounded individuals with outstanding academic records in disciplines such as:
- BSc or MSc in software development, computer science or electrical engineering.
- Technical skills such as:
- Automated build tools (Jenkins), test automation frameworks (JUnit), message-oriented middleware (Solace), databases (SQL)
- Fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, Linux/Unix, XML, FpML, JSON
You should also have proven analytical skills, a demonstrated interest in finance and a history of participation in extracurricular activities. Other essential qualities we look for include excellent interpersonal and communications skills, creativity, logic, inner drive, proven leadership capabilities, initiative, and the ability to play a key role as a team member in a fast-paced and challenging work environment all come into the equation.
