As a Group, Rolls-Royce spends billions with external companies, so supplier performance and relationships are vital when it comes to delivering overall business results.

As part of our expert team, you'll build relationships that get the best from our global suppliers as well as working with international teams to make improvements at every stage of the procurement process. That could mean liaising directly with suppliers or it might be part of our wider campaign to drive efficiency and effectiveness in all that we do. The programme

Our Procurement Graduate Development Programme will immerse you in real projects, ensuring you gain invaluable hands-on experience. Depending on where your interests lie, over 18-20 months you'll complete three or four placements, each lasting three to six months. These will be spent in real roles – as a Buyer or Materials Resource Planning Controller, for example – before you get to experience what it takes to shine in areas like Purchasing Development, Value Improvement and Forward Sourcing. Alongside this will be our comprehensive training programme and ongoing support from our expert team and a series of mentors. You'll also be expected to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) – it means you won't just learn from the experts, you'll become one of them. After 18-20 months, you could become a specialist or extend the programme to develop into a leadership role.

What you'll do

Over your placements, you'll experience a mix of on-the-job learning, modular training and project work. The aim is to give you the best possible grounding for your future career. As a Buyer, that's likely to mean being based on-site as you work with teams from all over the business to select suppliers, negotiate deals and drive performance. In Purchasing Development, you'll develop strategy, deliver improvements and build influential relationships with senior stakeholders. Beyond that, you can expect to gain a real understanding of how our supply chain works and the role Procurement plays in tackling bottlenecks, ensuring supply meets demand and even putting new engines into production.

What you'll need

We're looking for graduates who are keen to develop their business knowledge by working with external companies. This is your chance to develop strong business partnerships and negotiate deals so you'll need to be someone who knows how to earn trust and inspire respect. Able to apply your intellect, creativity and determination to contribute effectively, you'll work with integrity across every aspect of every project. In terms of your academic background, you'll either have or be on course for a 2:1 degree, or a comparable qualification. On top of that, you'll need to be inquisitive and resourceful – you're someone who can think differently about the challenges we face, and you'll never be short of ideas on how we can improve.
