Westminster City Council offers the type of career prospects that few employers can match. Quite simply, we support a progressive working life with plenty of training and development opportunities, plus the scope to take on career-defining projects. With a passion for developing our people’s capabilities, we work as a team in a fast-paced environment where every idea counts.

While career development is hugely important, we know that our employees produce consistently excellent results because they enjoy the work they are doing – and with their input directly impacting on Soho’s world-famous nightlife, much-loved tourist attractions such as Trafalgar Square, iconic shopping districts including Regent Street and multicultural neighbourhoods ranging from China Town to Little Venice, who can blame them?

Now you could be a part of this exciting work. We are currently looking for a dynamic individual to join the Benefits and Revenues team and take on a wealth of fascinating projects while studying for an Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation (IRRV) qualification. With the scope to also experience working in the City Treasurer’s Finance Department, you will take on challenges relating to everything from housing benefit and Council Tax to debt management and procurement.

This is a valuable entry point into the Civil Service. To thrive in this role, you will therefore need a degree (minimum grade 2:1) with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a can-do attitude. You will ideally have an understanding of project, programme and change management techniques with an appreciation of factors such as KPIs. It would also be preferable if you have some knowledge of issues facing local government, with particular reference to those relevant to service and functional responsibilities.

If you’re as productive as you are ambitious and collaborative as you are enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work, right in the heart of iconic Westminster, a true ‘City for All’. This is a unique place where it all happens and an important role offering you the opportunity to transform lives.

As a progressive and innovative organisation, we welcome applications from candidates keen to work in an agile environment with flexible conditions.

Closing date: 21 September 2018.
